Pearl West project team celebrates topping out
Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty company celebrated topping out the Pearl West project with a mid-day celebration. Though the project’s final pour will occur on August 18th, the event allowed for all of the team members to come together to celebrate this noteworthy milestone. Dozens of employees dined on a casual Hawaiian lunch while listening to superintendent, Wade Huber, thank the team’s efforts before reciting a number of noteworthy facts on the project; to date, over 72,000 man hours have been recorded on the project and by its conclusion, over 10,600 cubic yards of concrete will have been poured and 455,000 feet of post-tensioned cables (86 miles) used.
Pearl West is a nine-story, 238,309 square-foot office tower building scheduled to be completed in early 2016. Located in the Pearl District, Pearl West is Portland’s first newly-constructed office building following the recession. The project includes three floors of below-grade parking totaling 77,760 square feet which will accommodate 175 parking spaces and bike parking. Pearl West’s fourth floor comprising 17,565 square feet of space will serve as the new home for the Portland office. The building’s exterior will be composed of a dark-grey brick with windows that increase in size from the ground floor up. The building in designed by GDB Architects in collaboration with THA Architecture and is owned by BPM Real Estate Group.
